Last of the Crazy People
A number of people who work for my organization are on a social assistance program and are 'trained' by us. It is a part of my job to give these people $50 a month toward their transportation costs. Mostly, this is not too complicated. Except for one person. He is paid every two months, so I had two $50s for him last week. Unfortunately, it was not the day for him to go to the bank (according to him) so he refused to take the money. So today when I got to work he'd already been standing outside my office for a couple of hours. He stopped me and asked about the money, but told me he would only take it in $20s. So off I went to the bank, and he waited on a random street corner near my place of work until I came back. He then took the money in a napkin and told me he didn't have time to sign the petty cash voucher for it, as he needed to walk to the bank, which would close at four p-dot m-dot. The good part is, my office smells much nicer now that he's gone.
